Frequently asked questions
What is the LinkedIn post character limit?
A LinkedIn feed post can be up to 3,000 characters. Only roughly the first 210 characters (about two to three lines) show before the 'see more' fold, so the opening matters far more than the total length.
How long can a LinkedIn headline be?
The headline limit is 220 characters. In search results and comments only about the first 60 characters are visible, so front-load the most important words.
What is the LinkedIn About section limit?
The About section (summary) can be up to 2,600 characters. The first three lines show before the 'see more' link on your profile.
Do emoji count differently?
Yes. Emoji count as characters, and some count as more than one because of how they are encoded. This counter counts them the way people read them, one visible symbol at a time.
