What to do with a cadence number

  • Consistency beats bursts. Ten posts on Monday then silence teaches the timeline nothing; one post a day for ten days teaches it exactly who to show you to.
  • 1 to 3 originals a day is where most growing accounts sit. It is enough to stay in the feed without competing against yourself.
  • Replies do not count in this number, but they drive roughly half of real growth. A low posts-per-day figure with heavy replying can outgrow a high one without it.
  • The busiest day is a proxy for when the account shows up. When you check someone whose audience overlaps yours, that day is a decent bet for your own posting.
  • If your own number embarrasses you, do not fix it with willpower. Pick one repeatable format (a daily observation, a weekly teardown) and let the format carry the cadence.

Frequently asked questions

How is posts per day measured?
From a sample of the account's recent original posts pulled from their public timeline, divided by the days that sample spans. Results are cached for a few hours, so a sudden posting spree today may take a little while to show up.
What is a good posting frequency on X?
For accounts trying to grow, 1 to 3 original posts a day is the range most consistently growing creators sit in. Below 0.3 per day the timeline effectively forgets you between posts. Above 6 per day you start trading follower attention for volume, and unfollows creep up.
Does posting more increase reach?
Total reach, usually yes, up to a point. Reach per post, usually no. Each extra post competes with your own earlier posts for your audience's limited attention, so per-post views often dip as volume climbs. The goal is a cadence you can hold, not a maximum.
Why does this number differ from what I count on their profile?
Two reasons. This tool measures a recent sample window, not their whole history, and it counts original posts. The profile timeline you scroll mixes in replies and reposts, which inflate what an account looks like it publishes.
Is the posts per day checker free?
Yes, 25 lookups per day, no account needed. Signing up for Xpert gets you unlimited checks plus your own posting streak, best times, and per-post analytics tracked daily.
